Good to Know

Practical tips for your Space Coast stay.

🚗

Getting Around

You'll want a car. Cocoa Beach is spread out and distances to KSC, Port Canaveral, and Melbourne are best covered by driving. A1A runs the length of the coast.

🌡️

Best Time to Visit

October through April is peak season — lower humidity, warm temps, and no hurricane risk. Summers are hot and humid but less crowded and cheaper.

🏄

Surf Report

Check Surfline or Magic Seaweed before you paddle out. Swells run 2–4 ft most days. Best conditions are early morning before the onshore wind picks up.

🦈

Beach Safety

Watch the flag system. Red = no swimming, yellow = caution, green = go. Rip currents are common — if caught, swim parallel to shore, not against the current.

🛒

Groceries

Publix on N Atlantic Ave is walking distance from Sandcastles. Winn-Dixie and Walmart are a short drive for stocking up on arrival day.

🚀

Launch Alerts

Sign up for launch notifications at Space Launch Now or Kennedy Space Center's website. Oceanfront balconies at Sandcastles face the launchpads directly.
